PSRM Chairman Igor Dodon said that “PAS is gathering its parliamentary faction on Sunday for an extraordinary session to finally take over the Constitutional Court (CC), turning it into a party branch.” In a post on his Telegram channel, he noted that the regime aims to reinforce the CC with “good and trusted figures, some of whom even hold yellow party cards (PAS party membership),” infotag.md reports. “The rush by PAS deputies to appoint loyal judges is directly tied to the upcoming elections. There are suspicions in society that immediately after the parliamentary vote, the Constitutional Court could be pressured to satisfy the whims of the authorities and make politicized decisions aimed at protecting the current PAS regime, up to and including the cancellation of the elections if the ruling party performs poorly,” Dodon posted. He believes that “the history of June 2019 is repeating itself, when the then-Constitutional Court made an unlawful ruling in favor of the Democratic Party’s authorities.” “Later, those judges resigned in disgrace, accused of participating in the state’s seizure. “But what has really changed since then, during the ‘good times,’ if all signs point to the state now being seized by another political force, one more aggressive and hypocritical? Yet, punishment for usurpation and abuse is inevitable. It will befall both the Constitutional Court judges who play into the hands of the authorities and the ‘yellow’ rulers themselves, who may refuse to accept defeat in the autumn elections,” Dodon wrote concluding with confidence that “the people have awakened and understand everything, no longer willing to tolerate lies, terror, and the ‘yellow’ dictatorship.”
