Home / Politics / Athens Court of Appeal Approves Two More Extradition Requests from Chisinau for Plahotniuc
This was reported by the oligarch’s lawyer, Lucian Rogac.
“Today, both requests – from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Justice – were consolidated and reviewed within a single procedure during one hearing. At this hearing, Vladimir Plahotniuc once again confirmed his consent to be extradited to the Republic of Moldova,” the lawyer stated in a video address on social media, reports deschide.md.
In accordance with the rulings, the Greek Ministry of Justice must decide whether to agree or disagree with the provisions set out in the judges’ decision.
“The only step remaining after the extradition is confirmed by the Greek Ministry of Justice is to set the earliest possible date for Vladimir Plahotniuc’s transfer,” Rogac added.
It should be recalled that on August 13, the judges of the Athens Court of Appeal ruled that Vlad Plahotniuc could be extradited to the Republic of Moldova.
UPD: The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Moldova has denied the statements made by Vladimir Plahotniuc’s lawyer, claiming that the Athens Court of Appeal allegedly approved two additional extradition requests submitted by the Moldovan authorities.
According to the official statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office, on August 18, 2025, prosecutors at the Athens Court of Appeal merely informed Plahotniuc of two new requests: one submitted by the Ministry of Justice on August 4 and the other by the Prosecutor General’s Office on August 8, reports deschide.md.
