Home / Politics / Denmark Believes It Is “Unfair” Dividing Ukraine and Moldova on Their Path to the EU
Giving priority to opening negotiation clusters for Moldova, separating its path to the EU from Ukraine, would be unfair to Ukraine.
According to European Pravda, this opinion was expressed by Marie Bjerre, Denmark’s Minister for European Affairs, who currently holds the EU presidency, before the start of an informal ministerial meeting in Copenhagen on 2 September.
It would be unfair in terms of relations with Ukraine to separate it from Moldova in the process of joining the EU, Denmark believes.
“The reason for the new impetus in the enlargement process lies precisely in Ukraine. This is due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine,” Bjerre emphasized.
She added that when talking about the process of EU enlargement, “the focus is now on security”.
“It would be unfair to leave Ukraine alone. We must move forward with Ukraine as well,” the Danish minister emphasized.
