Minister of Interior Daniella Misail-Nichitin reported that drug trafficking is on the rise in Moldova, one of the reasons being the war in Ukraine. The Interior Minister explained that this increase is driven both by the regional context and by more active actions of law enforcement, reports realitatea.md. “We are witnessing an increase in the number of criminal cases related to all types of drug trafficking and banned substances. This rise is driven by two factors. On the one hand, it is the war in Ukraine. The neighboring country is one of the markets for synthetic drugs. The logistics chain is changing, and as a result, more synthetic drugs, among others, are flowing into Moldova,” Misail-Nichitin stated on the Rezoomat program. According to her, the second factor is the stepped-up work of the police. “This is also linked to the increased vigilance of the police in investigating and documenting these cases,” the Interior Minister clarified.
