According to him, Recean also warned about this, speaking “of the possibility of 10,000 Russian troops arriving in Moldova in case there is a government in Chisinau that is tolerant toward the Kremlin.”
The official government spokesperson Daniel Voda warned that the scenario in which Chisinau Airport could be transformed into a “military airfield” that the Russian Federation would use to attack Ukraine is “being taken with full seriousness by the authorities” and could become a reality in the event of a victory by pro-Russian forces in the parliamentary elections. Voda made these statements on the air of the Moldova 1 TV channel, reports moldpres.md.
“This topic, unfortunately, has in some cases been ridiculed in the public space, often reduced to the ban on access to airspace. The hybrid war that Russia is waging against the Republic of Moldova is not an isolated case and does not concern only our country. We see the same malicious actions in the Baltic states, in Poland, not to mention Ukraine, which is subjected daily to brutal attacks using drones and missiles, including against infrastructure facilities,” said Daniel Voda.
According to him, this public warning also came from statements made by Prime Minister Dorin Recean to the foreign press, when he “warned about the possibility of 10,000 Russian troops arriving in the Republic of Moldova in the event that there is a government in Chisinau that is tolerant toward the Kremlin and effectively becomes its puppet.”
“The same issue was discussed last autumn, when credible sources in the government of Ukraine and in the security structures of the Republic of Moldova warned about the possibility of such an operational scenario – a scenario that the authorities are treating with full seriousness. And when I speak about the authorities, I want to emphasize that this is not only about politicians or the country’s top officials, who are the most informed, but also about the people who analyze all security risks – patriots within the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Moldova, who are duty-bound to assess all risks,” said Daniel Voda.
He added that state institutions are examining this risk and that citizens must be informed about such scenarios.
