Home / Politics / Dodon: Russophobia Promoted by PAS and Maia Sandu Will Backfire
Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialist Party (PSRM) which part of the Patriotic Bloc, posted a message on social media sharply criticising the current government and accusing it of promoting Russophobia.
“The Russophobia promoted by PAS and Maia Sandu will backfire. Moldovans are not Russophobic. They want peace and mutual understanding with everyone, including Russia. They seek good economic ties: exports, access to the labour market, affordable gas, and trade preferences,” Dodon’s post reads, as cited by newtv.md.
To support his statement, the former president pointed to Ukraine, saying that ex-president Petro Poroshenko lost the 2019 election with his “hysterical and Russophobic campaign” driven by fears of losing power. He argued that President Volodymyr Zelensky’s similarly aggressive stance toward Russia has made dialogue with Russia impossible and led to ongoing losses of Ukrainian territory and sovereignty.
“Moldovans are modest, patient, but wise, and they will not accept the Russophobic and aggressive policies of Maia Sandu and the PAS leadership. This Russophobia is being pushed by Soros and NATO who are using the yellow government in Chișinău to advance this agenda. But we don’t need NATO here,” Dodon said.
At the end of his statement, Dodon urged citizens to participate in the upcoming elections:
“On September28, we will put an end to the dangerous manipulation and propaganda of PAS, which threatens to drag Moldova into a regional war. Let’s bring down the PAS dictatorship and save the country!” the politician declared.
