At the same time, Recean will also withdraw from political activity. Thus, after the new government is approved, the current prime minister, who was elected to parliament on the PAS list, will also resign his seat.
The statement was made during a joint press conference with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
Igor Grosu thanked Dorin Recean for his work and stated that PAS would nominate a candidate for prime minister after the results of the parliamentary elections were confirmed.
“Together with President Sandu, the members of parliament and the members of the Action and Solidarity Party, with whom we have embarked on important projects for our country, as well as with the entire community, with whom we have come incredibly close to achieving our goal of joining the EU, we have all fulfilled our duty.
I would like to thank PAS for their trust and for the mandate to lead the Government of the Republic of Moldova during this difficult period.
I worked with professional, worthy and courageous people at PAS, people who began fighting for democracy and true independence 10 years ago, a fight without which we would not be here today,” said Recean.
