Home / World / The EU to Present a Roadmap for Strengthening Defense due to the Russian Threat
The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, said that Europe is currently facing an extraordinary surge in attacks, and therefore she and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will soon present a roadmap for European defense.
She announced this during a press conference in Kyiv, according to a correspondent for European Pravda.
Kallas stated that every time a Russian drone or aircraft violates EU airspace, “there is a risk of escalation, whether unintended or deliberate”.
“Russia gambles with war, and we are moving beyond hypothetical conflict. To keep war at bay, we must translate the economic power of Europe into military deterrence,” she stressed.
Kallas then announced that this week, together with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, she would present a roadmap for European defense.
“It will define opportunities, goals and milestones for key areas such as anti-drone systems,” she shared.
Kallas emphasized that the EU needs to strengthen its defenses against Russia.
“Not to provoke war, but on the contrary, to prevent war. This will be a guide on how to do this, and it must be fully coordinated with NATO,” she concluded.
