Home / Politics / Nicusor Dan: There Is No Risk That Russia Will Attack Moldova
Romanian President Nicusor Dan stated that the Republic of Moldova is not under threat of a military attack from Russia. According to him, as long as Ukraine continues to resist, there is no military threat to Moldova.
Answering a question about whether Romania would intervene to protect its citizens in Moldova in case of a Russian attack, Dan noted that no such danger exists, reports digi24.ro.
“Moldova has only two neighbors – Ukraine and Romania. Fortunately, Ukraine is resisting, which means that no attack on Moldova can come through its territory, and certainly not from Romania, which is a NATO member state. Therefore, as long as Ukraine holds out, this threat does not exist,” he emphasized.
The Romanian president also noted that if pro-Russian forces were to win the elections in Moldova, there would be a risk of increased Russian military presence in Transnistria.
“If the pro-Russian forces had won, they would have allowed the strengthening of the small armed contingent of about a thousand troops currently stationed in Transnistria. But since that did not happen, Moldova, as long as Ukraine continues to resist, faces no threat,” Nicusor Dan added.
