Home / Politics / Ceban: It Is Legitimate and Fair for the Capital’s Mayor to Be a Member of the Cabinet of Ministers
The mayor of the capital announced this at today’s meeting of the mayor’s office.
“As for Chisinau, where almost a million citizens live and work, that is, almost half of the population of the Republic of Moldova, it would be legitimate, logical and fair for the mayor of the capital to be a member of the government.
This is the capital of the country, the main economic activity is concentrated here, forming the state budget, from which the whole country lives. Interaction and communication between the two institutions should be direct, and not through intermediaries, as has been the case so far.
Everything we did with the mayor’s office team was aimed at the development of Chisinau, despite all the crises and blockages by former representatives of the central authorities – the government, parliament and their subordinate structures,” Ion Ceban said, quoting unimedia.info.
He also stressed that it is important to adhere to democratic thinking based on European standards, “and not on dictatorial behavior fueled by narrow party interests”.
At the previous meeting of the Mayor’s Office, Ion Ceban addressed a message to the future Prime Minister:
“I advise the future prime minister and ministers not to engage in politics, but to pursue a policy for all citizens equally”.
