Twelve parliamentary committees will be established in the parliament, seven of which will go to PAS, while one committee will be allocated to each of the remaining parliamentary factions, announced Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu. “Until now, we had 11 committees, but we still had an outstanding task from the previous legislature – we didn’t manage to vote for the creation of the twelfth committee, on European integration,” the Speaker clarified during a program on TV8, as reported by tvrmoldova.md. According to Igor Grosu, this committee will most likely be headed by PAS MP Marcel Spatari, while Nicu Popescu will lead the Foreign Policy Committee. Grosu also noted that following discussions with the parliamentary factions, it was decided that all proposals from the factions regarding the composition of the committees would be agreed upon by Tuesday evening. “The factions agreed to appoint people to the committees who have relevant expertise in the respective areas. The delegation of representatives should be based on the professional background of the candidates. We will gather all the proposals, and if there are overlaps, we will decide which candidate is more suitable to head the corresponding committees,” Grosu explained. As for the number of deputy speakers of parliament, Igor Grosu stated that two proposals were voiced during the meeting: to keep the current number or to appoint three deputy speakers.
