Orban: As Long as I Am Prime Minister and Trump Is President, US Sanctions Will not Affect Hungary

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he had agreed with US President Donald Trump “on the indefinite exemption of Hungary from American sanctions on oil”. Orban said that for Hungary, “the stakes could not be higher”. “The imposition of US sanctions against Russian energy sources would lead to a two- to threefold increase in utility costs and a ‘thousand percent’ increase in petrol prices in Hungary before Christmas. It would be a real disaster,” he said. The Hungarian Prime Minister emphasized that the country had “managed to avert this danger”. “Therefore, Hungarian families will be able to spend Christmas as they wished,” he added.
