At the political level, a decision was made that the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will move in tandem towards the European Union. This statement was made by the Ukrainian ambassador to Chisinau, Paun Rohovei.
As the diplomat noted, this “political tandem” is a conscious, top-level decision aimed at ensuring the synchronized development of the two candidate countries, ipn.md reports.
“This political tandem is beneficial to both states. Joint efforts and shared goals enable us exchange experiences, benefit from regional projects, and enjoy exceptional cooperation between the two deputy prime ministers in charge of European integration. From a political perspective, this tandem has taken shape, and I want to assure you that Kyiv, regardless of the situation, will remain steadfast in its position and continue its European course together with the Republic of Moldova,” Paun Rohovei said on Radio Moldova.
In light of tensions between Ukraine and Hungary, the ambassador expressed optimism, stating that despite differences, dialogue remains the main tool of diplomacy.
“As for Ukraine’s relations with Hungary, this is where diplomacy comes into play. When a nation and its government genuinely aspire to be part of a value-based system such as democracy and freedom, I do not think there are obstacles that cannot be overcome. We are engaged in dialogue with Hungary. We previously managed to overcome obstacles when we discussed granting candidate status. When the goal is truly worthy, nothing is impossible,” the Ukrainian diplomat said.
The ambassador firmly dismissed the suggestion that the two countries might split during the accession process. “At the political level, it was decided that Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova would advance in tandem. I am confident this path will continue, regardless of external factors,” the diplomat noted.
