Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban stated that he is ready to “approach anyone – the prime minister, ministers, anyone – to openly discuss issues that concern us all”. “I have never avoided dialogue or set conditions when it comes to people’s interests. I don’t want to return to the past, when the government artificially blocked the capital with its decisions. This does not help anyone and only slows down the development of the municipality. We will continue to do our job: manage projects, respond to crises, and continue to invest. But it would be much better if there were dialogue, cooperation and shared responsibility towards the people. This way, we can speed up the work, reduce pressure and achieve real results for the residents of Chisinau and the entire Republic of Moldova,” said Ion Ceban on the program 7 zile on Cinema 1, as quoted by ziua.md. At the same time, Ceban noted that he would very much like the new prime minister and the entire cabinet to have real freedom in their actions and decisions. “It would serve the country’s best interests for the government to be able to work without political pressure. Unfortunately, I fear that they will not be given this freedom. We know the habits of this government, which has politically taken over all state institutions and can change priorities overnight. Moreover, I do not think that the government will be able to change anything in the near future, especially given the recent cuts and amendments to the budget: reductions in funding for roads, capital investments, social programs and other important areas. I will continue to insist on cooperation, but also on responsibility in managing these decisions, because people expect results, not excuses and explanations as to why nothing has been achieved,” Ceban added.
