White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration’s new “peace plan” to end the Russian-Ukrainian war “reflects the complex situation”. She also noted that, from their point of view, thanks to it the Russian Federation and Ukraine “get more than they give”. According to eurointegration.com.ua, her comment was reported by ABC News. “As the Trump Administration has clearly said, any deal must provide full security guarantees and deterrence for Ukraine, Europe, and Russia to ensure the end of the war, in addition to financial opportunities for Ukraine to rebuild, and for Russia to rejoin the global economy, to benefit the people in both countries,” the spokeswoman said. “This plan was designed to reflect the realities of the situation... and find the best win-win scenario where both sides get more than they give,” Leavitt added. Recall that on the night of 21 November, the American media published the entire list of points in the new US “peace plan” that was sent to Ukraine for review. Among other things, it talks about recognizing Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions, which are occupied by Russia, as de facto Russian, as well as Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts along the front line. The unoccupied part of Donetsk oblast will come under Russian control, but it should be a “demilitarized zone”. Ukraine is obliged to renounce NATO membership and enshrine this in its constitution, as well as limit the size of its army to 600,000 troops, but there is no provision in the text prohibiting the possession of long-range missiles. A full amnesty is envisaged for both sides for everything that happened during the war. At the same time, the US intends to provide Ukraine with specific security guarantees, the details of which are not specified in the document. On Thursday, the Office of the President of Ukraine publicly announced that Volodymyr Zelensky had received a draft plan from the American side and was ready to discuss it. In the coming days, Zelensky hopes to discuss with President Trump the diplomatic options available and the key points necessary for peace. Julia Davis, the US Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, said that the Ukrainian and American sides discussed an “aggressive timetable” for efforts to end the war against Ukraine.
