Romania is equipping its army with Mistral anti-aircraft missiles purchased from France. The contract was signed between the defense ministries of the two countries. The contract is worth €625.5 million excluding VAT and includes 231 Mistral MANPADS, 934 Mistral missiles, training and practice ammunition, documentation, a simulator, and logistical support, according to Mediafax, citing a press release from Romania’s Ministry of National Defense, ipn.md reports. The deal is part of the European Joint Acquisition of the Mistral System initiative, coordinated by France, in which Romania participates alongside other European countries such as Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, and Hungary.
