Home / World / Nicusor Dan: If Ukraine Falls, Russia Will Be Our Neighbor and Then Everything Will Change
Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated in an interview with a French TV channel that Romania is not considering sending troops to Ukraine.
At the same time, he expressed serious concern about the consequences for Europe and Romania itself in the event of a possible defeat of the neighboring state, according to adevarul.ro.
Nicusor Dan stressed that Europe must send Russia a clear signal about its long-term support for Ukraine.
“It is crucial that Ukraine stay strong. It is a country that shares the same values as us,” said the Romanian president.
He noted that he does not believe Russia is ready for peace:
“It’s good that they talk about peace, but I’m not optimistic about Russia’s desire for peace or even a truce,” said Nicusor Dan.
The Romanian head of state emphasized the danger of Ukraine’s possible defeat: “We will become neighbors with Russia, and then everything will change,” said the Romanian president.
Responding to a question about US President Donald Trump’s latest statements on the EU, Nicusor Dan said that “Europe and the United States are interested in continuing their relationship”.
