The mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, claims that the lack of response and inaction by the authorities regarding the TUX scandal is due to the fact that people close to the ruling party, including those in uniform, are involved in the scheme. “People lost €60 million, they were simply unlucky, but that’s not a problem,” said the mayor on the Rezoomat program, according to unimedia.info. “We have the TUX pyramid scheme. As far as I understand, half of everyone close to PAS and wearing uniform is involved in it. People have lost €60 million. Where was all this discussed publicly, where was the fuss, where did the NAC come, where did the armed men come down, and then the media came to film it? People were just unlucky, but that’s not a problem,” said Ion Ceban. Recall that the scandal surrounding TUX Moldova erupted in early October when the pyramid scheme collapsed overnight. Financial experts who wished to remain anonymous reported that the number of Moldovan citizens who invested and lost money reached approximately 50,000. The media also reported that the turnover of the TUX pyramid scheme in Moldova reached around €48 million. However, these figures have not been officially confirmed. A total of three criminal cases have been opened in connection with the case: for illegal business activities, money laundering and tax evasion.
