Russia’s actions pose a serious threat to the region, and the Republic of Moldova will continue to enjoy the support of its Western partners, as its security contributes to the security of Europe. This was stated by Romanian President Nicusor Dan at a meeting in Helsinki, according to moldpres.md.
According to him, discussions focused on strengthening defense capabilities, protecting citizens and deterring any form of aggression through close coordination between the European Union and NATO.
“The Helsinki meeting emphasized the central role of the Eastern flank for European security,” Dan said.
The Romanian President outlined the strategic importance of the Black Sea region, noting that Romania is proposing to establish a Maritime Security Centre there as part of the European Union’s strategy for the region. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation and capacity to respond to security challenges.
At the same time, the need to develop military mobility and connectivity along the North-South axis was noted, as well as the importance of ties with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova for strengthening regional defense.
“We will continue to support the Republic of Moldova, as its security directly contributes to our security,” said the Romanian president, confirming Bucharest’s firm commitment to regional stability and security.
