Home / Security / Moldovan National Army Received Latvian Atlas Reconnaissance Drones
Moldova received Latvian drones, whose manufacturer had previously failed to fulfil a contract with a Ukrainian fund.
Cadets from the Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy in Chisinau and soldiers from the Fulger special forces battalion took part in the exercises, according to logos-press.md.
The drones developed by the Latvian company Atlas Aerospace are designed for reconnaissance and surveillance.
In July 2022, the Come Back Alive charity foundation ordered 100 such drones for the Ukrainian armed forces for €5 million. However, in April 2023, the foundation’s director, Taras Chmut, stated that the manufacturer had not fully fulfilled its obligations.
“The situation has not yet been fully resolved, but it was an extremely negative experience. Serious questions are being asked of our special forces, and huge claims are being made against the manufacturer, who did not fully fulfil its obligations”.
Commenting on the situation to the Ukrainian media, Atlas stated that as of 2023, it is in the process of fulfilling its obligations to the Come Back Alive fund and has reached agreements with Taras Chmut on the completion of deliveries.
