Home / Society / Minister of the Environment: Approximately 1.5 Tons of Petroleum Products Entered the Dniester River
Gheorghe Hajder announced that a filter and a tank for collecting pollutants in the water will be installed in the Cosauti-Yampil area in the coming hours.
“Preliminary analyses taken yesterday morning will be ready tonight, and we will publish the results. We want to make sure that there is no risk to citizens and that the water supply remains as safe as possible. At the moment, we are maintaining yesterday’s recommendations as a precautionary measure,” added Hajder, according to realitatea.md.
The minister also commented on the situation in Balti, where residents were left without water due to this incident:
“I believe that residents of Balti and other consumers should be cautious to avoid possible risks until the final results are available.
As for Chisinau, the contaminated water has not reached here, as the dam in Dubasari acts as a filter, keeping oil products on the surface of the water.
We will ensure that they are removed from the Dniester so that they do not spread further,” the minister concluded.
It should be noted that Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban said that in the event of a water supply stoppage, residents of the capital will be warned in advance of the need to stock up.
