The decree introducing this regime for 60 days was published in the Official Monitor on Wednesday, March 25. The authorities note that the state of emergency will allow for quick and coordinated action, including the maintenance of isolated consumer nodes, the supply of energy resources through emergency contracts and power lines, as well as rapid interventions in procurement procedures and the protection of critical infrastructure, according to ipn.md. If necessary, the government will be able to order the rationalization of consumption and the introduction of special operating rules for economic entities in order to protect critical economic facilities and social institutions. The executive branch proposed the introduction of a state of emergency after the main power transmission line that provides energy to the Republic of Moldova, the Vulcanesti-Isaccea line, was shut down as a result of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
