On 31 March, the Judicial Assessment Commission submitted a report to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) on the assessment of a candidate for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ).
After analyzing the information gathered and examined during the evaluation process, the commission concluded that there are no doubts regarding her financial or ethical integrity in accordance with Law No. 65/2023, reports zdg.md.
Judge Ana Cucerescu recently took part in public hearings held by the commission.
The Superior Council of Magistracy must consider the conclusions and arguments contained in the report and decide whether to accept or reject it.
Judge Ana Cucerescu, who has 14 years’ experience in the judicial system, attracted public attention following two verdicts in high-profile cases. These include the sentencing of Iurie Rosca in August 2024 to six years’ imprisonment and the recent decision – seven years’ imprisonment for Gagauzia’s Bashkan Evghenia Gutul – handed down on 5 August 2025.
Cucerescu is also a member of the panel hearing the “bank fraud” case in which Vlad Plahotniuc stands accused.
