Home / Politics / Grosu on Dodon’s Visit to Moscow: Competition Within the PSRM for the Kremlin’s Support
The Speaker of Parliament has responded to Igor Dodon’s trip to Russia for talks. According to Grosu, Dodon is attempting in this way to demonstrate his importance to the Kremlin against the backdrop of rivalry within the pro-Russian camp in Chisinau.
“He provokes everything and, as you can see, successfully destroys everything. The man has to justify his importance in Moldova. There is competition within the pro-Russian opposition, even within the PSRM itself – over who is tougher and who the Kremlin should back. These visits merely show that the ‘servant’ has started to sweat. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were backing all this Russian propaganda – both about the Dniester and the bombing of the power lines,” said Grosu, as quoted by deschide.md.
As a reminder, Igor Dodon recently visited the Russian Federation, where he met with a number of officials in Moscow and gave an interview to the Russia 24 TV channel. In a conversation with Russian journalists, he stated that the PSRM is preparing for early parliamentary elections to replace the current government.
“We very much hope that in the near future we will succeed in securing snap parliamentary elections so that a normal, patriotic government comes to power in Moldova, one that will improve dialogue with all our partners, including the Russian Federation,” said Dodon.
