Anastasia Taburceanu, former press secretary at the state-owned MoldATSA and cousin of President Maia Sandu, repaid 1,101,766.12 lei to the company.
MoldATSA representatives said the money was transferred in four installments, according to moldova.europalibera.org.
The state-owned enterprise asserts that Taburceanu has fully repaid the funds she received during her time at the company, including salary, bonuses, allowances, and other labor-related payments.
Taburceanu served as MoldATSA’s press secretary for about a year, starting in June 2025. Her income during this period became the subject of media investigations.
According to MoldATSA, the first payment was made on July 6, followed by three more installments on July 9, 13, and 14.
The company emphasized that Taburceanu had initiated repaying the money received.
However, the relevant control procedures regarding this matter have not yet been completed. MoldATSA reported that the company is awaiting an order from the inspection authority.
Finance Minister Victoria Belous said on Realitatea that Taburceanu’s repayment was lawful.
“This amount may be reported as income; there is nothing illegal about that, and anyone can do it,” the minister explained.
The story surrounding Taburceanu’s income has sparked widespread public debate. President Maia Sandu had previously publicly criticized her cousin for the payments she received from MoldATSA.
