The head of state stressed that Moldova’s independence means having the freedom to make its own decisions, choose its partners and determine its development path, reports realitatea.md. “Independence means having light and heat at home, regardless of what is decided in Moscow. Selling your products where both you and your work are respected,” Maia Sandu said. The president stressed that Moldova should be treated as a partner and that its views should be taken into account when decisions affecting its future are made. At the same time, she emphasized the importance of free elections and citizens’ right to decide who governs the country. “To be treated as a partner, to have a voice. And to decide through voting who will govern the country,” Maia Sandu said. According to the head of state, Moldova cannot choose its neighbors, but it can independently decide which friends and allies to choose and which path to pursue. “There is one thing you are given from the very beginning – your neighbors. And the Republic of Moldova was lucky,” Maia Sandu concluded.
