Radu Musteata, Who Served as Minister for Two Days, Appointed Head of AIPA: Tofan Welcomes Decision

Radu Musteata, who served as agriculture minister for just two days, has been appointed director of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA). The decision was approved at today’s government meeting. “I am glad to see him back in public office. I think he has learned a lesson from the mistake he made when he was appointed minister. But we do not have so many people that we can afford not to use their potential,” Vasile Tofan said. Radu Musteata will head AIPA, the institution responsible for administering subsidies and other forms of financial support for agricultural producers. Musteata thanked the government on social media for the confidence placed in him. Radu Musteata resigned on July 24, 2026, just days after being appointed agriculture minister, amid a scandal over his alleged ties to the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM). At the time, allegations and documentary evidence, including a photo of his membership application, emerged in the public domain indicating that Musteata had been a member of the Democratic Party of Moldova. He initially denied any connection with the party, but after the documents were published, he was forced to acknowledge that he had indeed signed an application to join the PDM. Amid accusations that he had concealed this information and the ensuing public backlash, he decided to step down.
