Moldova could recruit workers from India to address labor shortages, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi has said. According to him, some businesses are struggling to find employees, partly because the low salaries they are prepared to offer do not meet the expectations of Moldovan citizens, realitatea.md reports. Popsoi said he had recently spoken with entrepreneurs who intend to invest in Moldova and contribute to the state budget but are facing staff shortages. “The salaries that businesses are prepared to pay do not satisfy our citizens. Our citizens have much higher expectations, and that is a good thing, but someone has to do these low-paid jobs,” Mihai Popsoi said. According to the deputy prime minister, the authorities are seeking to develop relations with India in several areas, including investment and economic cooperation. Recruiting workers from the country could become one way of addressing the labor shortages faced by Moldovan businesses.
