The construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will begin already in August, Moldova is close to meeting the conditions for the second tranche of macro-financial assistance from the EU, and critics of the tax reform should carefully read the adopted laws. Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu told about it in the Loc de dialog program on Radio Moldova. Energy The construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will begin in August, closer to the Independence Day. The speaker also said that another important project on the interconnected Moldovan and Romanian electric power lines is also to be implemented. Eurointegration and Constitution During the autumn-winter session the parliament is overdue in some bills, which, as the speaker hopes, will be adopted. Among others Candu emphasized the introduction of European integration into the Constitution. “The parliamentary majority does not yet have the necessary number of votes to amend the Constitution, so we have to discuss this issue. I do hope that we will be able to find a compromise with the parliamentary opposition pro-European parties – the LDPM (The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova) and the LP (The Liberal Party of Moldova) to amend the Constitution on this issue at the next session”, Andrian Candu said. Macro-financial assistance According to Candu, Moldova is very close to meeting the conditions for the second tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union. The head of parliament promised that the authorities would invite the mission from Brussels, which should evaluate all the successes and failures of Moldova to make a new decision on macro-financial assistance. Cancellation of election results in Chisinau With regard to the cancellation of the results of Chisinau mayoral elections, which caused suspension of the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union, Andrian Candu said that the conclusions of the parliamentary legal commission on the need to change the electoral legislation would be ready soon. Subsequently, the parliament will discuss the need to amend the legislation. Tax Reform The head of the parliament said that some people hastened to criticize the package of laws on tax reform before they are well studied. “I recommend everyone to read the laws carefully, and analyze, show patience and see the results of these laws when they come into force,” Andrian Candu said noting that it is easier to criticize. Citizenship in exchange for investment The chairman of the parliament adds that the granting of citizenship for investment is practiced in many countries, and it is important to find a suitable model. To this end, says Andrian Candu, a contract was concluded with an international company that organizes the process of obtaining the Moldovan citizenship for investments. This company will check where the potential beneficiaries got money from, will keep track of the submissions and other procedures. Source: Newsmaker
