The most direct route from the capitals of the Baltic States to Bucharest, Sofia, Athens or Istanbul is the road through Kyiv and Chisinau. And between these capitals the shortest way is the highway through Yampil, Vinnytsia region. Ukraine proposes Moldova to consider a question of bridge construction across the Dniester River, reports Government Portal quoting Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion after the meeting with central and local executive authorities in Kyiv. “The local authorities of Vinnytsia came up with the initiative to consider the issue of building a bridge across the Dniester River to Moldova as the shortest route from the Baltic to the Balkans. This project is economically beneficial not only for Ukraine and Moldova, but also for the European Union. Therefore, the Government of Ukraine intends to come up with a proposal to the Moldovan side to sign the relevant intergovernmental agreement in the near future and to start construction of the bridge”, reports Government Portal. The construction of a modern bridge is enshrined in the National Transport Strategy up to 2030.
