The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin announced the termination of the agreement on the status of the sea of Azov as an internal sea of Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine will revise all its agreements with Russia, said Klimkin on Monday, September 17, after the Euro-Atlantic Forum session in Kyiv, reports RBC-Ukraine. He stressed that for the moment there is a plan for the gradual termination of interstate agreements. The Foreign Minister also added that Ukraine did not deliberately cease the operation of the treaty with Russia. “The legal framework for our relations with Russia will be gradually redone ... Each treaty with the Russian Federation has a clause about the procedure for its termination, and we have an internal action plan. But if we make our plan public now, Russia will use it against us in court proceedings ... We did not stop the the operation of the treaty just because it worked for us in all international litigation, from Stockholm arbitration to the so-called Yanukovich’s three billion (US dollar loan)” , said Klimkin. According to the Ukrainian top diplomat, Kiev also plans to terminate the agreement on the Sea of Azov as Ukraine’s and Russia’s internal sea. "It will not be in effect in future. But when we terminate it is quite another question”, he added. Source: korrespondent.net
