In Moldova, a new pro-European party may appear on the basis of the public movement Professionalism and Responsibility for People (Profesionalism şi responsabilitate pentru oameni, PRO). This was announced on Monday by a representative of the movement Gheorghe Costandachi, reports infotag.md. According to him, the goal of the movement is to create an alternative to the existing political class, since “society is tired of the current politicians who protect their own interests and are not interested in solving the problems of the population”. The PRO representative said that the movement adheres to the social-liberal doctrine, which means ensuring freedoms, equality of chances and respect for the right to property, and also advocates the implementation of pro-Western policies, joining the EU and Moldova painless withdrawal from the CIS. Costandachi appealed to public and international organizations, diplomatic missions and other structures in the country to support the movement to change the political elite in the country. “We note with disappointment that those who led Moldova and made titanic efforts to create unbearable conditions for the population, at the same time created favorable conditions for the consolidation of society, which, through decisive action, will replace the format of the existing government,” the PRO representative said. According to him, the country needs a 2020-2050 action plan to ensure stable economic growth and minimize Moldova’s dependence on external financing. At the same time, he believes that “there is nothing bad in external support, because Moldova cannot develop without it, but we should focus on our own capabilities.” According to the legislation, only parties officially registered by the Ministry of Justice before the entry into force of the decision on setting an election date can take part in regular parliamentary elections. The parliamentary decision on setting an election date for February 24 comes into force on December 1. Point.md
