NATO Warns Kosovo Over Army Plan

NATO on Wednesday warned it would have to reassess its security mission in Kosovo if Pristina goes ahead with plans to create its own army, said Jens Stoltenberg. NATO criticized the plans of Kosovo to create its own army. “This is a completely ill-timed step”, said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg following a meeting of foreign ministers of the organization in Brussels on Wednesday, December 5. The intention to transform Kosovo’s security forces into a regular army runs counter to the ideas of many NATO member countries and could have a very negative effect on Kosovo’s “future Euro-Atlantic integration”, said Stoltenberg.
