The jobless rate in the single currency area fell to 7.9% in November. Figures for November 2018 published by the European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat, on Wednesday, January 9, in Luxemburg, DW reports. Compared with the previous month, the index fell by 0.1 percentage points, reaching its lowest level since October 2008, experts of the department say. Previously, economists had forecast its level at 8.1%. The unemployment reached the lowest level in Germany (3.3%), the Netherlands (3.5%) and the Czech Republic (1.9%). At the same time, in Greece this figure was 18.6% (as of September 2018), and in Spain - 14.7%. According to Eurostat, as of November 2018, 13 million people in the EU were unemployed. At the same time, in the European Union unemployment rate in the same month was 16.5 million people, having decreased by 107 thousand compared with the previous month.
