Changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, enshrining the European and Euro-Atlantic course of the country, will be made before the presidential election, President Petro Poroshenko is convinced. “I believe that before the elections, these changes will be made to the Basic Law”, said Petro Poroshenko at a meeting with residents of Rivne region on Thursday. He stressed that this would mean “the implementation of this strategic course by the duty of the authorities, and not a declaration, not PR”. According to Poroshenko, amending the European and Euro-Atlantic strategy of Ukraine to the Constitution will be “a very important, powerful political signal”. The head of state recalled that the Verkhovna Rada had taken the penultimate step to consolidate the irreversibility of the course towards the EU and NATO in the Constitution, supporting with more than a constitutional majority both the direction of the draft law to the Constitutional Court and its adoption in the first reading.
