People Assembly of Gagauzia offered to amend the Constitution with the article on the possibility of Gagauzia’s withdrawal from Moldova. But this can happen only if the country loses its statehood. The draft of amending the country’s Constitution has been published on the website of People Assembly of Gagauzia. The document is still under development. Its authors are waiting for proposals to change the project, agagauzinfo.md reports. Thus, they plan People Assembly of Gagauzia to have the right to enact local laws and regulations within its competence. The document specifies the procedure for Parliament to amend the legislation concerning the rights and powers of Gagauzia: the law on the special status of autonomy can be changed “only by three fifths of votes of elected members of the parliament” and only “on the basis of concurring decisions of the parliament and People Assembly”. At the same time, for the reorganization of state institutions activities in Gagauzia “a positive feedback from the Executive Committee of Gagauzia is required”. “if the Republic of  Moldova changes its status as an independent state, the people of Gagauzia have the right to self-determination”, Gagauzinfo.MD reports. It should be recalled that the right of Gagauzia to self-determination if Moldova lost its independence was enshrined in law in a referendum held in autonomy on February 2, 2014. Source: point.md
