Zakharova Commented on the Words of Dodon on a Quick Solution of the Transnistrian conflict

The official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the statement of the President of Moldova Igor Dodon, who spoke about the quick solution to the Transnistria problem. Zakharova doubted that the issue, which cannot be resolved for decades, may be really resolved in a short time, the correspondent of the Federal News Agency reports. “When upon coming to power some political forces announce that conflicts and problems that have been lingering on for decades should be resolved quickly, that raises the following question – do they really believe their predecessors failed to realise this?”, Zakharova said. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that statements regarding the Transnistrian issue should be made carefully so as not to do much harm. “It is extremely important for diplomats to have the same approach as doctors. It is very important for them to do no harm,” Zakharova said. It should be recalled that there is 5+2 format for discussing the Transnistrian problem, which includes Moldova, Transnistria, OSCE, Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. and the EU as observers.
