Russia proposes to the political forces of Moldova to conclude an interim coalition agreement in order to hold honest, transparent early elections, stated Russian Deputy Prime Minister, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of trade and economic relations with Moldova Dmitry Kozak at a joint briefing with President of Moldova Igor Dodon on June 3. According to him, he specially arrived in Moldova to inform about the position of the Russian Federation to the European and American partners of Moldova before the final talks on the creation of a coalition. A few hours earlier, the Moldovan leadership held several meetings with representatives of the U.S. and the European Union. Following his visit to Chisinau, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said that Moldova risked losing European funding if it does not form a government in the near future. Director of the U.S. Department Eastern European Affairs Office Brad Freden, in turn, said that he had not come to Moldova to participate in the formation of the government.
