The head of state held talks with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Russian Deputy Prime Minister, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of trade and economic relations with Moldova Dmitry Kozak.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral relations, primarily in the field of trade and energy, aif.md reports.
– We stated a sustainable rise in turnover, which in 2018 was up to 940 million dollars. I thanked the Russian side for the implementation of the agreements reached at the level of the two presidents, and, in particular, for the temporary abolition of duties on the import of a number of Moldovan goods into the Russian market.
In order to maintain a positive dynamic, I asked Russian partners to extend the tax-free export of Moldovan goods to Russia and permits to transit goods through Ukraine by trucks for a new term, – the president said on his social network page .
Igor Dodon also discussed with the Russian partners the issues of natural gas supply to the Republic of Moldova after January 1, 2020, when the previous contract expires. The head of state expressed confidence that the resolution of all these issues would be a significant step towards the full restoration of strategic relations with the Russian Federation.
– I assured the Russian partners that after the new parliamentary majority and the government of national consent were formed in the Republic of Moldova, the strategy of a balanced foreign policy and mutually beneficial economic relations will receive a new impetus, he added.
