Igor Dodon held a working meeting with Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of trade and economic relations with the Republic of Moldova. As Igor Dodon reported on his Facebook page, during the meeting the parites discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations. Intergovernmental commission Igor Dodon stressed the importance of preparing and holding a full-fledged meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation in September this year, where the period of stagnation in bilateral relations, which has been observed in recent years due to the fault of our previous government, is expected to be overcome. — There was a consensus that our bilateral agenda has accumulated a large number of issues that require immediate resolution, with the broad participation of representatives of the government of the Republic of Moldova. Export of Moldovan goods to Russia The head of state thanked the leadership of the Russian Federation for the extension of the agreement on duty-free export of Moldovan goods on five commodity items to the Russian market and expressed hope that in the future to agree on the expansion of the list of goods for duty-free import. The parties paid attention to the current issues, including the issue of transport permits and the expansion of the list of economic agents for the supply of canned and wine products. Gas issues Igor Dodon and Dmitry Kozak discussed the issues of uninterrupted supply of natural gas to our country, given that the agreement on transit through the territory of Ukraine expires at the end of 2019, as well as the request of the Moldovan side to provide a discount on gas from September 1. During the meeting, the President presented Vadim Cheban, a candidate for the post of Chairman of the Board of JSC Moldovagaz. Transdniestria The Transnistrian issue was also raised. The Moldovan leader and special representative of the President of Russia exchanged views on the results of the meeting with representatives of mediators and observers of the 5+2 format: Russia, Ukraine, OSCE, USA and EU. — I stressed that the stated priorities in the Transnistrian settlement process for the coming period are aimed at intensifying the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol. In this regard, he expressed hope that the joint efforts of mediators and observers would open the prospects for holding a meeting in the 5+2 negotiation format, tentatively scheduled for the first half of October this year. The Moldovan-Russian economic forum The President told his Russian colleagues on the plan of major events for the preparation and holding of the second Moldovan-Russian economic forum, which will be held in Chisinau on September 20-21, 2019. In conclusion, Igor Dodon noted with satisfaction that over the past month there has been a significant reset of the Moldovan-Russian relations, which will allow to reach a qualitatively new level of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation.
