The EU is working on guideline for the identification and possible non-recognition of passports issued by Russia in Donbass. It is addressed to the member states of the European Union and their consulates.
The European Union is developing “single guideline” on the “identification and possible non-recognition” of Russian passports issued to residents of certain areas of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions, controlled by pro-Russian separatists, reads the EU official statement, provided by DW on Thursday, August 8.
This guideline for the EU member states and their consulates is being developed by the European Commission together with the European Foreign Service and in coordination with the EU delegations in Kyiv and Moscow. The document will also include visa issues, submitted in Russia or Ukraine by residents of Donbass with Russian passports. In a statement, the EU representative recalls that non-recognition of passports is within the competence of EU member states.
