Kremlin says it is premature to speak about the effect of normalizing relations between Kiev and Moscow, but there are grounds for cautious optimism.
“I believe it is premature to talk about some kind of normalization effect for now, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, adding that earlier Kyiv had withdrawn from a large number of agreements to the detriment of Ukrainians’ own interests.
“It is premature to talk about some kind of effect for normalization of bilateral relations. Earlier, the exit from a very large number of documents occurred to the detriment of the interests of the Ukrainians themselves, the Ukrainian people. It was obvious, ” spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday in response to a request to comment on the decision of the new Ukrainian authorities to suspend the termination of bilateral Russian-Ukrainian relations.
“As for the prospects for Russian-Ukrainian relations, work is in progress. There are grounds for cautious optimism. However, let’s not make any premature plans. Anyway, very complicated, continuous, responsible and meticulous work lies ahead”, noted Peskov.
