Prime Minister Maia Sandu during a meeting with the head of the OSCE mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch said that the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict is impossible without the destruction of smuggling schemes and corruption in the region, infotag.md reports.
“The definition of an early political solution to the Transnistrian problem is currently very difficult, and the first step should be the elimination of corruption and smuggling schemes in the region in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities,” said Sandu.
She confirmed that “the government is open to cooperation with the OSCE on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict on the basis of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova”.
Speaking about the policy of small steps, which is now being carried out in relations with Tiraspol, the prime minister emphasized that “it can be continued only if it brings concrete results, in compliance with the principle of sovereignty of Moldova”.
In turn, Claus Neukirch confirmed that the OSCE is ready to assist in the process of exporting Russian ammunition from Cobasna.
