German Media: Zelensky Insulted Merkel

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insulted the German government when, in a conversation with American leader Donald Trump, he agreed with the words that Chancellor Angela Merkel “does little”. On Sunday, September 29, German weekly news magazine Der Spiegel reports. Commenting on this Trump’s statement, Zelensky replied: “You are right not for 100%, but for 1000%.” These words provoked displeasure in Berlin, since the conversation did not mention the merits of Merkel and current German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (at that time - the country’s foreign minister) in preventing Donbass from turning into a hotbed of military conflict. At the same time, it was not planned to publish a transcript of talks, which means that what is said should be taken with all seriousness, Der Spiegel emphasizes. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk will now have to puzzle out the situation, Der Spiegel notes. Izvestia
