Representatives of Gazprom and Naftogaz completed gas transit talks in Vienna, the executive director of Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko wrote in his Facebook page on Saturday, December 14. “We take the most constructive position. Active work continues,” he said. However, he clarified that the final agreement has not been reached yet. According to State Duma member Igor Ananskikh, the Ukrainian side has ceased to politicize the issue of transit and has moved on to specifics and market relations. “Everything immediately has made a start anyway”, he noted in an interview with RT. At the same time, a member of the Federation Council Sergei Tsekov said that there were still many unresolved issues regarding gas transit. “A lot of questions arise about the period of concluding an agreement, the price and Ukraine’s position on gas transit in general,” the RT quotes him as saying. The agreement on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine ends on December 31, 2019. The parties have not signed a new agreement yet. iz.ru
