John Bolton has confirmed that Trump has delayed aid to Ukraine. The official made a scandalous statement in his unpublished book. Former Donald Trump National Security Assistant John Bolton confirmed that the US president himself linked the suspension of military assistance to Ukraine with an investigation against Joe Biden. This is stated in an unpublished Bolton’s book of memoirs, The New York Timesreports. Bolton writes that he, along with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Pentagon chief Mark Esper, told Trump about 10 times to “unfreeze” aid for Ukraine. However, the US president rejected all these attempts, constantly recalling that the Ukrainians allegedly collaborated with Hillary Clinton to prevent his victory in the 2016 presidential election. It is noted that in August Trump told Bolton he intended to further freeze $ 391 million of military assistance to Ukraine until the Ukrainian authorities help with the investigation against the Democrats including Biden. According to NYT, Bolton talked about how the way the Ukraine case developed over the course of several months, until he left the White House in September. He described not only Trump's personal contempt for Ukraine, but also new details about how senior Trump cabinet officials publicly tried to evade participation in this. The book also says that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in personal conversations claimed he did not believe the statements of Trump's personal lawyer Rudolph Giuliani insisting that the former US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch was corrupt. Pompeo also believed that Giuliani could act in the interests of his other clients. According to the newspaper, Bolton showed his manuscript to close associates, and according to the current procedure sent a copy to the White House for preview. As to the NYT, Bolton could have shared the information in the manuscript within the US Senate impeachment trial hearing. And this will clearly undermine the key positions of American’s leader defense. The newspaper suggests that the White House may delay the process of checking the manuscript before publication or remove the most uncomfortable parts of the text for the president. Recall, the United States allocated $ 300 million to Ukraine as military assistance. According to the Democrats, Trump blackmailed Ukraine with military aid and thus tried to exert pressure to launch an investigation against his rival’s son in the upcoming elections, Joe Biden. This became the reason for the impeachment procedure.
