The head of the Cabinet intends to synchronize environmental policy with the EU member states.
Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said that in five years Ukraine will meet the European Union membership criteria. He stated it on Tuesday, January 28, on his
Facebook page.
"The government’s program provides an ambitious goal - in 5 years Ukraine will meet the criteria for EU membership. That is why it is important to synchronize policies with EU member states, in particular, within the framework of the European Green Agreement," he wrote.
We are talking about a package of measures aimed at modernizing the economy and social sphere in order to turn Europe into a "climate-friendly" continent until 2050. The corresponding agreement was adopted by the
European Commission in December 2019.
Today, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk invited the Vice President of the European Commission for European Green Agreement, France Timmermans, to satrt the dialogue on development of a common roadmap with a view to Ukraine joining this initiative.
“Our ambition is to transform the country into a strong competitive economy with a digitalized and energy-efficient industry, a highly developed infrastructure and a decent standard of living for people,” Honcharuk wrote, illustrating the handshake with France Timmermans.
