The European Union will finance development projects in local communities of Moldova without government intervention. This will be possible thanks to the European Village program to be launched this year. This statement was made by the chairman of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu after her meeting with a number of European officials held in Brussels, Belgium, on February 4, tv8.md reports. Maia Sandu called on the EU to continue to provide assistance to Moldova through programs that directly support communities, small business, independent media and civil society. “I went to Brussels to make sure that Moldova will not disappear from the EU agenda. I am here to convey a message that, regardless of the color of the government, citizens of the Republic of Moldova continue to support the European course of our country and should be supported in their efforts,” the PAS chairman wrote in social media. Maia Sandu also reiterated that the justice reform and the fight against corruption are prerequisites for improving the lives of people, and the EU should continue to insist that the government fulfill these obligations.
