Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that the $2.9 billion which Naftogaz received from Gazprom as the result of an arbitration dispute be used for infrastructural and healthcare projects. The president’s press service reported this on February 4. “We are further planning to direct funds towards the road construction – that’s our infrastructural priority, towards other infrastructural projects, healthcare and energy efficiency. One of the plans is to build more than 200 medical assistance reception centers throughout Ukraine,” Zelensky said during the meeting with Ukrainian ministers and MPs. He instructed the government to prepare all the necessary draft documents within two weeks. As Korrespondent.net reported, the president instructed the prime minister to look into the high bonus payments to Naftogaz management. Under the contract, top managers of the company will receive a 1% bonus payment from 2.9 billion hryvna, which Gazprom paid following the Stockholm arbitration decision. Earlier it was reported that the Cabinet of Ministers appealed to the Naftogaz Supervisory Board with a request to suspend the bonus payments to the company’s top managers for the victory over Gazprom.
