The Minister of Defense noted that Ukraine is interested in increasing its participation in NATO programs and operations. Ukraine has confirmed its intention to participate in the NATO training operation in Iraq. This announced the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Andriy Zagorodniuk at the meeting of the Alliance’s defense ministers in Brussels, Ukrinform reports. "We clearly stated that we will participate. The probability is extremely high. All countries that are relevant to this also support it. This is important for us because we are strategically interested in increasing our participation in NATO programs (operations). This both our experience and experience for us so everyone benefits from it, " the head of the military department said. At the same time, he noted that now Ukraine has no concrete proposals on the number of personnel or format of participation in such a training mission, because the Alliance is still in the process of determining its own involvement in Iraq and decides when the mission will be fully restored. “We are currently conducting this work to determine specific people, specific tasks and volumes. As soon as all this happens we will, of course, inform,” Zagorodniuk added. As reported, the NATO training mission in Iraq in the amount of about 500 troops was founded in 2017. Recall, on the eve it became known that NATO will resume and expand its mission in Iraq. It was suspended on January 4 amid aggravation after the assassination of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.
